Heal & Thrive

Integrative Trauma-Recovery Through Creative Expression

Experience trauma recovery through the Gestalt lens in this 1-day workshop.

Today was the first of two unique workshops "Heal and Thrive". With great tenderness and delicacy, Esperanza lifted the curtain for each of the participants for corners of our mind and soul that were left in the shadow for us. Intertwining gestalt, art, and other therapeutic approaches, it has supported us both in our roles as therapists and in getting to know another bit of ourselves.

At the end of the event, participants shared feelings of gratitude, calmness, awakened energy, discovered pieces of answers to the question "Who am I?", excitement, understanding, and self-love. Bulgarian Association for Gestalt Therapy

For the human in you

As a therapy student or practitioner, Heal & Thrive provides you with a day of enrichment and emotional integration, by compassionately and creatively exploring:

  • introjects, disowned and shamed parts of your self
  • loss stemming from traumatic experiences
  • the joy of coming into contact with the missed experience informing your traumatic injury, revisiting and embracing your wholeness
  • being witnessed in your present fullness, and entertaining the question, what next?

For the therapist in you

As this workshop aims to enrich both the person and the therapist in you, it includes time to unpack the Gestalt fundamentals underpinning the work, and how they unfolded during the session. This way participants also benefit from  professional development with a focus on:

  • Group therapy essentials
    - Safety first. Safety throughout the work.
    - Confluence and Differentiation as ways of relating in the group and the world.
    - The value of Resistance in the group and individuals. Exploring its wisdom and working with it to support
       growth.

  • When trauma is in the room
    - Retraumatisation risk: Mindful contact, where to go and what to avoid during the work.
    - The window of tolerance: Tracking and supporting your client while exploring loss and allowing in what's
       available and new
    - Emotional dysregulation and nourishing regulation skills.

  • Creative experiment in Gestalt therapy— I hope the therapist in you will take delight in the expressive process that Heal & Thrive allows; and enjoy another way of working with your client:
    - increasing your resources as a creative Gestalt therapist
    - exploring various ways to co-creatively bring experiment to life through the use of paints, air-drying clay
and mood boards incorporating words, textures, sounds, colour and emotions.

A unique takeaway

As your personal exploration unfolds, you will have the emerging image of your process printed onto a tote-bag to take with you by the end of the workshop. This image is, of course, full of meaning, holding your unique story of discovery and growth.

Who is Heal and Thrive for?

This workshop is an offering for Gestalt students at any stage of their journey, and for practitioners, as experiments can be graded up or down to suit participants' individual readiness, willingness and preference for exploration.

Clinical Supervision

A place for personal and professional nourishment.

For counsellors, therapists, psychologists, mental health workers, social workers.

Modalities provided:

  • Group supervision - maximum 8 participants. Meets once per month for a 2-hour session. Enquire
  • Individual supervision - Appointments as required. Enquire

Supervision is an integral part of the therapist’s practice, essential to satisfy your ongoing accreditation requirements.

In addition to this, as a supervisor I provide a safe and supportive space for replenishment and growth through:

  • Exploring the challenges you are facing in your work, as well as celebrating your presence with your clients.

  • Supporting the effect this rich and demanding work has on you, often seen in experiences including vicarious trauma, being personally triggered into your painful memories and experiences, and compassion fatigue.

  • Both, personal and professional growth from unpacking your familiar ways of working and exploring new ones.

Supervision is invaluable when it allows you to explore who you are; and from this place, how you come into contact with your client. From this perspective, supervision truly embodies the meaning of support and development of your therapist self.
